Lets Talk About Hair!

My hair has always been one of my favorite things about myself. Does that sound conceited? I hope not. I think everyone should look for things about themselves that they love. It's never a bad thing to be confident about yourself and to love yourself just the way you are! My hair has been one of those things about myself that I love and when I put the time into making it look nice, it really boosts my confidence.

I have always had super straight, super thick hair. I don't like to use a lot of products, if any products at all. And for a long time I washed, blow-dried, and straightened it almost everyday which didn't do a lot in terms of keeping it healthy. After I had my son, there was less time to worry about what my hair looked like and my hair kind of changed too. So I feel like in the past few months I have really discovered a new way to care for my hair and a new way to wear it as well.

A brush can really make a lot of difference when it comes to your hair. I found the Divine Care & Style by Olivia Garden at Ulta. It's good for everyday styling and has the two different kinds of bristles which really help with tangles and gives me smoothness and shine. I felt like it was a little expensive for a hair brush ($26.95!) but after using it for a few months, I don't regret buying it.

Leave-in products are new to me. Like I said before, I've never been one to use hardy any product in my hair. So when I noticed how dry/frizzy my hair felt after having my son I knew I needed to add something into my routine. I always like to try things that I've been told about or things that have been suggested to me. My best friend told me to try the John Frieda Frizz Ease and I knew I loved it the first time I used it. And the Its a 10 was something I had wanted to try but hated the price of it ($18+) without knowing whether I'd like it or not. I ended up finding that bottle at a Nordstrom Rack and got to pay a little less for it than I would have anywhere else. I love both of these products but am more apt to repurchase the John Frieda because its cheaper ($5.99). I'm on my third bottle of it but I'm still on my first bottle of Its a 10 because I want to make it last!

Lastly, my newest love - the Sephora brand curling wand! My hair has never held curl so well before I bought this tool. I don't know if regular curling irons don't get hot enough or what, but the curls just wont stay in my hair. And I hate having to spray a ton of hair spray to get them to stay because they end up not staying and then my hair just looks crispy. After watching a few youtubers with their wands and I complimented a girl at the mall who had beautiful curls and told me she used a wand, I started looking into them. I found the Sephora brand one which was only $40 and thought I would give it a try because the other wands I found were a lot more expensive. I couldn't see spending much more than that and this not working for me either. Once I tried it and got the hang of not having a clip, all of my curls turned out beautiful and they held! I even slept on them and when I woke up the next day, they were loose but they were still there. So needless to say, I love this wand and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new way to style their hair.

In the overall effort of keeping my hair healthy, I no longer blow-dry and straighten it everyday. I let a day or two go between washes and 50% of the time I let it air dry after I have put my leave-in product in. When I do blow-dry it, I don't straighten it right away and sometimes not at all, the leave-in leaves it pretty smooth and I can get away with it Au-natural.

Well Look Who's Back!

Hey guys! I've been gone a little while and I must apologize. There were a mix of reasons that I decided to take a little hiatus from the blog. Some of which I am choosing not to disclose because I want nothing but positivity here on my wonderful slice of the internet but the other reasons being as follows:

~ My husband is now a fully trained engineer! He was sent to engine school in January and has been training ever since and just recently fully marked up. So our lives have been a little hectic and all over the place but mostly (whole-ly? =P) we have been SO blessed!

~ My best friend got married! I helped her in every way I could to plan her big day and it went off without a hitch and she had such a beautiful wedding day!

~ My little sister got married too! My mom and I planned every thing from beginning to end, mom having the wedding/church to decorate and I did the reception, the invitations, and so forth. It was awesome even if there were a few hiccups but my sister was over the moon happy and her day was beautiful.

~ I'm still in college! And this last term I doubled up on classes so I was overloaded and any free time I had was dedicated to studying and working on homework and discussion posts and taking quizzes and tests. But because I did that, I now have a glorious 8 weeks off and I am enjoying every second of it.

~ My child is entering his terrible 2's early! He turns 2 in October but he has done everything early up to this point, why not add this into that as well. He is by no means a bad kid. But my goodness, he can't figure out why he can't have things when I tell him no. And he thinks the whine will get him whatever he wants and that just isn't true. And he's figured out that if he just screams/cries in public when he's so over it, mommy will put down whatever shes shopping for and take him and leave. He wins.

So there you have it, folks. Hopefully if you're reading this, you missed me. And if you didn't miss me, then I don't know. But at least you're reading.  :)

At this point in time, I have no plans for posts, I'm just going with the flow here. So feel free to ask me anything you want in the comments or give me hints on what you'd like to see next. This blog isn't just about all the things in life that I love, its about what you love too! <3
